After going through the postpartum period twice, I realized the importance of having nourishing ready made meals available for myself. I had no idea what to expect after giving birth the first time and did not plan ahead in terms of food preparation. I was exhausted, overwhelmed and had a baby that never wanted me to put her down. I remember wanting to cut a mango for weeks and not even being able to successfully do that. Not having healthy food available added to my exhaustion and contributed to post-partum depression.
I was much more prepared the second time around after being gifted the book, The First Forty Days by, The Essential Art of Nourishing the New Mother by Heng Ou. It hadn’t occurred to me how important it was to take care of myself in order to take care of my baby. It is impossible to provide care to an infant when you yourself are not nourished and cared for. I spent a few weeks preparing meals for myself from this book and freezing them. When I had my second baby, it felt so good knowing that I had several weeks worth of meals containing ingredients intended to heal and nourish the postpartum body. Not having to cook allowed me to take more time to rest. My second post partum period was filled with much less stress, more joy and a quicker recovery.
It is my true passion and joy to be able to provide this service to other mom’s to be. I am offering freezer meals from or inspired by the book the First Forty Days as listed below. Depending on my availability I may also be able to provide other fresh or frozen meal options as well. Please give at least 2 weeks advance notice for meal prep. I look forward to nourishing you and your baby!
